Kingston Champs wear Acme Club Skates
J.F. Smellie of the 1888 Kingston Champs wears the world famous
Starr "Acme Club" Skate, recognizable by the patented clamp on style.
It is also interesting to note that Starr manufacturers invented and patented Starr "Hockey" Skates
22 years prior to Sutherland’s 1888 Kingston claim.

1863 – Starr ‘Acme Club’ self-fastening “spring” skates – invented and patented by Starr Mfg. Co., Ltd. in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

1866 – starr acme club skate Starr ‘HOCKEY’ Skates
invented and patented by Starr Mfg. Co. Ltd..
