King’s College Record

That Room-Mate of Mine

My friend joe has returned from Christmas
vacation, refreshed in mind and body and ready to endure the hardships of winter
term. He had a fore taste of winter sports last term, when there were a few days
that the College Hill was in good condition for his toboggan. Now, however, he
looks forward to the delights of the Skating Rink and snow-shoeing excursions.
His skates have been ground and polished and he had not been here an hour before
he enquired if there was any talk of a Carnival this winter at the Rink. Joe generally
takes great interest in such exhibitions, although he did seem rather disgusted
the last time he took part in one. He had chosen the character of Mephistopheles
and the appearance he made in this role was certainly greatly to his credit. His
suit fit him perfectly but alas for the frailty of all mans work! Scarcely had
he begun to perform his graceful gyrations when his hastily constructed red tights
began to display the weakness of their seams, and his Infernal Highness was compelled
to beat a hasty retreat…
